WHAT IS A TRUST PROTECTOR?

The Protector is an entity or individual who monitors the activities of the Trustees. The Protector overseas the Trust and ensures that the Trustees act in accordance with the terms of the trust deed and in accordance with trust law.

The Protector provides the Settlor and Beneficiaries with a high degree of assurance that the trust will be properly administered, especially in the event of the death of Settlors.

A professional Protector is not only beneficial to the clients but also to the Trustees as the Protector is able to provide expert knowledge on trust matters, asset classes and family business.


 

The Protector plays an important part in the administration of the Trust. The powers of the Protector may include:

       Remove and appointment of Trustees

       Consent to the appointment of capital and income

       Consent to the termination of the Trust

       Consent to the amendments of the provisions of the Trust
